I often do half studio, half outdoors as there is this wonderful little park less than half a mile from the studio. Here are some from that park. Lighting is from the 24 inch Chimera collapsible beauty dish used as a octa instead of a beauty dish. power is from two Nikon SB-800s mounted in the dish and triggered by Pocket Wizard Flex/TT5 units with the AC3 Controller. All in TTL.

There is a 1/4 CTO gel on the flash to warm up the flash a bit. otherwise the flash is a bit too blue for the late-day ambient light.

They are all great, as usual. My favorite is the last one, with the sunlight beautifully highlighting the hair. Thanks for sharing.

I'll agree with Rick. Beautiful young lady, wonderful shots and poses, with the light on the last one perfect. Excellent work.

For me the last one is also my favorite. It looks like it all came together on this shot; the light across her face, the sunlight making her hair appear to glow, her soft smile and expression show that she is enjoying herself and is very relaxed. This is not to say that the others are excellent in their own right but in this shot like I said in the beginning. it all seemed to come together.

Your usual exceptional work Capt. C

Thanks all. Yes, that last one is my favorite as well, although #3 is close.

Great set of pictures, I do like the last one the best with the sun highlighting her hair. I am sure she was thrilled with them....

Captain C;
Yes, they are all great, of course, but how do you get two sb800 into the 24 inch Chimera collapsible beauty dish?

Thanks

Ok, I guess I'm the odd man out as I really really like the first one! Just love the colors, which leads to the last one being my second favorite. Obviously, your gel choice was a good one, an option I'll have to "borrow" more often! Great job, as usual, Cliff!

In #3 I like the way the young ladies hair is arranged and the lighting appears more natural. The background is not drawing attention away from the main subject. She has a pretty smile.

I see the possibility of a cropping from just above the folded arms that would be appealing also.

So #3 is my pick.

I use this:
http://mpex.com/lumopro-double-flash-bracket-speedring.html

The reason for the two speedlights is not more power, although in some cases that is indeed a good thing, but since each light can put out half as much light as a single flash, recycle time is reduced, batteries lsat longer, and if I raise the shutter into HSS range, I don't have to be as close to get the same exposure.

Beautiful work, Cliff -- as always! Thanks, too, for the tip and link to the double-flash-bracket. Do you use this in conjunction the the Lumopro beauty dish and/or do you prefer this setup to an octobox?

I use it with the 24" Chimera Beauty Dish primarily, but have used it with other soft boxes I use that will fit that speedring.

If I am going to be out for a while, I will use the Bolt battery that plugs into the flashes and that reduces recycle time even more and lasts...well, I don't know how long since I have never exhausted it or even come close.
