I spent the day a E B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in southern New Jersey last Thursday. Here are a few of the BIFs I took.

The Black Skimmer was taken with the Canon 500mm, 1/2000, F/8 ISO 800. The Osprey being chased by a laughing Gull was shot with the 500mm at 1/750, ISO 800 and the Osprey alone was shot with the 500mm with a 2.0TC, 1/1000 at f/8. Canon 7d Mk II, manual exposure, AI-Servo AF, High speed continuous shooting.

Nice work. I am especially impressed with the Osprey taken with the 2X plus 500, 7DII combo. 1600 mm. On a tripod I assume. I need to spend some time with the 2X converter. I have it, but it stays in the bag for the most part. Need to give it a fine tune and give it a chance. Thanks for posting.

Yes Nalu, on a tripod. It is important to verify the micro-adjustment settings for that lens/TC/Camera combination as they can be quite different from the setting for just the lens alone. The successful use of any teleconverter is quite dependent upon the quality of the base lens as TCs will exaggerate any faults of the base lens. Yes, there is some loss of quality with this combo but I think it is within acceptable parameters.

Beautiful shots. I love the Osprey in the last shot. The light on that one is especially appealing.

It is always good to see your beautiful work. I like the wing posture in the lone Osprey shot very much. Thinks for the reminder re the importance of fine tuning lens/TC/camera combinations.

I would love to see image #3 rendered as a sketch or pencil drawing. Very strong image!
