Vintage Kodak DC290 pics.

Today my photography club went on vintage themed photo shoot at a local old brewery. I decided to dust off my vintage Kodak DC290 camera and use it for the shoot. It was my first digital camera and with its whopping 2.1 megapixel sensor it was state of the art when I purchased it in 1999. Shooting with it reminded me of how excited I was to get it 17 years ago. Thought I would share some of the shots I got with it today.

I started out with a 3.2 mp Canon Powershot A510 and look back at some of those photos with amazement at how good they turned out, just can't enlarge or crop them very much. I think the CCD sensors used back then produced better color rendition than today's CMOS sensors.

I agree. I've gotten some beautiful outdoor daylight shots with the Kodak DC290. I also shoot with a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon D200. The D200 has a ccd sensor and the D7000 has a cmos sensor. In good light the D200's color is richer and smoother than the D7000.

My first digital camera was a Sony. I forgot the model number but as I recall the storage medium was an approximately 3X3 hard floppy disk. If I remember correctly you got to store 8 pictures per disk max. When you went on a trip I usually purchased a box of 25 floppies to store the pictures. Look how far we have come.

I remember those Sony cameras that used the disks for storage. Technology has come a long long way rather quickly in digital photography

Very good captures, PVR8! I'd love to get a couple glasses like the ones in your last photo!

Thanks sailorsmom. It's amazing how well that ancient 2 megapixel camera still captures most shots. Those were indoor shots in poor lighting. It does much better outdoors in good light. I suppose it will sit in the hutch collecting a lot more dust before I use it again.
