Hiking through any of Utah's slot canyons marks a rewarding day.

Typical, deep, dark, at mid-day.

A very wonderful set. Definitely shows the need to wear the proper footwear. The canyons are a very special place. Mahalo for sharing.

Aloha...and thanks. Yes, neoprene is a good choice for this cold water hike.

This canyon appears to be one not visited by most tourists. I have read of water running through slot canyons, but have never seen such. Are there times when this canyon is unsafe due to rapid and/or deep water? What is the name, and where is this canyon?

Wonderful images
We very seldom see the slots during wet weather.

Yes, dry slot canyons are the norm, but there are locations which have streams with year-around water flow. This is one of them (Kannaraville Canyon). Flooding is always a danger during rain, especially monsoon season of July - Sept. The canyon, while not so busy as Zion, Antelope, and associated terrain, still has been discovered. Flooding in this canyon is usually less severe since it drains a smaller basin. Just beware if there are thunderstorms in the area. As you probably know, a group of eight canyoneering friends from So. CA drowned in a Canyon tributary flash flood in Zion last September.

True. As per above, this one has year-around water flowing through it.

Very interesting, Redrock51! Not sure I'd want to do it, though.

Thanks. I think you'd love the hike. If you can live with the cold water, the elevation gain is uncharacteristically (for Utah) minimal. Quiet, exceptional scenery abounds.

Redrock,
Nice set of images. I bet the slot canyon is probably cool temperature wise due to the shade and flowing water. I better plan a trip down there. Thanks for sharing.
