Mangles, i think you did a superb job of photographing a real amateur model. The fact that she posed naked for you is a testament to your handling the subject. True, women are not breaking down doors to pose. But, in Billy Jo's case, she had the confidence in you to do your best. And you did.

Glad to see some clarification. I thought that this was a forum about the photographic techniques regarding nude images. But after reading the initial comment I was thinking it was about erotic photography, which is way more subjective. If the model doesn't turn you on then that is more about you than it is about the image. There is room for both, but then this group should be called "Naked images of people that turn me on" UHH!!
I'm sorry I fail to see what your talking about. One or two ignorant comments don't equate to "Naked images of people that turn me on" UHH!![/quote]
I have failed to understand the significance of the comments here. This photo is a good example of nude photography, no more no less. The destructive comments make me sad to read on UHH. This forum is for nude photos, and its doing a fairly good job, in my opinion. The age and size of a given model is irrelevant, but the backstory IS interesting. THanks to all the other 'older males' who can appreciate this type of model, there are many others who arent quite as attractive. Who cares? These women are giving us the pleasure (as has already been said) of observing them in a very vulnerable state. They are all to be congragulated and celebrated. IMHO
If I may; all this back and forth about how she is a problem as a model or not is silly. I think the photography itself could use minor improvement which I would hope is why we are all here. The model cannot EVER be blamed for a photograph. It is the photographer's job to do one (not necessarily all) of these things:
- make a statement
- convey a feeling
- display beauty
- understand a situation
In this image, I think the photographer has done that.
If I were to critique, I'd merely change some posing and probably crop differently.
Was your model happy? This is important.
best,
vin
The above (smilies) were for you Vin, I hit the wrong button/key... or something. I agree with what you said 100%

Billy Jo was very happy with her photos so much so she shared them with her mother.

My last manager taught me that when expressing my own feelings in prose. It is best to walk away from the crafted and come back later and read before hitting enter. This concept has stopped me from hitting enter many times and create a better response. It is amazing what I used to send out on first draft. Not any more.

I still blunder now and then, but far less than I did when I was "careless". One of the things that you have to take into consideration is "how important is it to respond with good intent?" Because not every wrongly worded thread deserves a response...sometimes they are just life-draining threads that could be avoided (and put to good use in a positive way that mattered.) I say this because the only reason I spoke out was that the purpose of this forum is to give photographers at all levels a way to connect and learn new things. Chiding a model is absolutely forbidden territory when photographing people in a posed situation. This should almost be written in the forum rules.

I would agree, but I would add to your first sentence above by saying, "Chiding a model is absolutely forbidden territory when photographing people in a posed situation, or in any critique of those images upon completion. I would also omit the limiting word "almost" in the second sentence. There is no need for wiggle room in a rule such as this for a
photography forum.
Thank you very much Sailor
