Ive often wondered what became of you and him. Havent seen a post of yours or his for quite some time. Hope you are doing well. Two years ago in May the Dr's gave me five weeks to live. But the good Lord was not ready for me yet. Last week they stuck a scope down and took a look and told me Im cancer free. I do believe in prayer.

I am so glad you have been granted such a wonderful reprieve, Hal!

Ian had people praying for him, too, and the benefit of the best treatment around...but he had multiple cancers simultaneously....I suspect for a LOT longer than he would admit, honestly.

He no longer struggles with health issues, and, I believe, he has been reunited with his beloved daughter who was taken from this life while still a young child....their spirits joyfully together in what lies beyond.

It brings me comfort thinking this way....

It's wonderful to see you here again :)

Theresa, I was not a member of UHH back when you and Ian were but I can tell from your photos that Ian was a very good teacher and you a very good student. I feel the pain in your heart for I lost a sister-in-law in late June and I miss her and her husband as they were good friends in addition to being in-laws. I believe that the friends and loved ones we have lost are never gone from our lives as long as we remember them as you have and I know you will forever. God Bless you two and your two families.

Hello Greg....
Thank you for your message of comfort and compassion. I am so very sorry you know what this overwhelming sense of emptiness and heartache feels like.
I am sorry for your loss and appreciate your kind words of comfort and compliment. Thank you...and may the fond memories we each have of our loved ones...continue to inspire a smile and bring a moment of joy to our hearts as we each heal.

Honestly...as each day passes...I am struck even more by just how much he meant to me.

Hello, all....
"Old-timers" may remember me here...maybe not.
They may remember Ian Hargraves, whom I encountered here first..later met and visited for a month in Fla.

He became my mentor-of-sorts...my number one cheerleader and penpal for years.
He confounded me at times...scolded me at times...entertained and irritated me...pushed me...pulled me...instructed me and chided me...

And enriched my life in ways I never saw coming.

Ian was knowledgeable and generous.
He passed from this life on July 10, after battling cancer for 8 mos.

I wrote him nearly every day and HE wrote ME a multitude of times a day...sharing instructional links...endless naughty jokes...encouraging words and general ancedotes from his own life.

I miss him dearly.

These are the final casual portraits I sent him of my grandkids during their two-week visit.
I don't think he ever saw them...but I have them because of him.

Xox Thank you, Ian. May you rest in eternal peace, love & light.

Theresa, I'm soooo sorry for your loss! Ian PMed me quite awhile ago that he was dying of cancer. I'll miss him and his outstanding photography! I remember, when Ian was talking about you, his saying how he couldn't resist your beautiful, blue eyes! :) I'll remember him always! Hope you'll be posting again, Theresa! I've missed you!

I remember you both. Thank you so much, Tilde, for sharing the sad news of Ian's passing. All my sympathy to you and his family. You have beautiful grandchildren, and it's so good that you could share them with him.

I've been here for only a couple months, so I don't know either one of you, but it's obvious that Ian taught you well, and you learned equally well. Your grand children portraits are simply superb...

Thanks for sharing a special time with a special person. We need more of these kinds of relationships especially in our world today with all the lack of caring and kindness. Thanks again and may your friend RIP.

Theresa, I just caught this post tonight and altho' I'm thrilled that you'll be actively participating again on the Hog, I am saddened for your loss as well as the loss for all of us who remember Ian. He was generous and kind with his critiques and thoughts, always an encourager. And his photography was exemplary. He seemed to have an interesting life, was well traveled, enjoyed sharing those stories. You both have been missed, welcome back to you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Tilde. A good friend is a true asset to one's life and to lose one must be devastating. May Ian rest in eternal peace.
