I put a polarizing filter on my lens and, don't laugh, it just keeps on spinning and I can't seem to get it unscrewed. Is there a trick to the PL filters?

Is it a circular polarizing filter? If so, you are probably just turning the outer ring, not the threaded ring below it. You may need to grip the side of the filter more tightly. Try a rubber disk that's used to open jars.

Some will come apart and leave one on the camera and one in your hand!

I've had 'em glue themselves to the threads on top of the lens before. Particularly the newer ones where the threaded ring is just so darn tiny.

How ever in the world did you manage to screw it on in the first place?!

(Broken, not designed that way.)

There are filter tools to remove tight filters. Look on Amazon or B&H.

Put your camera on a tripod and spin the filter during a 4 -10 second exposure, OH the possibilities.

Moving a zoom in or out also has possibilities.

Happens to me all the time. There are two rings on a circular polarizer - one spins to polarize, the other screws into the front of the lens. Put a rubber band around the screw ring to get a better grip on it. Same principle as a unscrewing a tight jar lid.
