Just Gorgeous Mike! My husband is going to retire at the end of the year. We have taken a cruise to Alaska but we want to spend a lot more time there and explore the wilderness. Alan, my husband, loves photographing the scenery and I love photographing large wildlife. Do you have any suggestions? Terri
Thank you very much. What I always did, I would fly to Anchorage the first week in September, rent a SUV, at that time the rates are cheaper and so is the lodging, the only reservation I would make was the Ferry to Valdez and the glacier tours before leaving. The glacier tours stop around the 15th. A few times I would drive the Alcan to Haines Junction from there down to Haines and take the ferry over to Skagway up to Whitehorse and back to Alaska. Great for fall colors. Of course all depends on the weather. Spend at least two weeks there, tell your husband bring a lot of memory cards, he'll need them.
