I was wondering if I am the only person in the US to get bombarded with calls from folks that sound Indian, but say they are IRS agents and I should call them so we can clear up this terrible action they have brought against me. I have at least 10 calls to my cell phone from 10 different areas of the country. I am a retired accountant and realize this is bulls##t. So, if you have had any of these calls, please make me feel better. thanks.
I might add that I have also had calls claiming to be Microsoft or sometimes Dell saying they have received virus alerts from my computer. I played along with one until he wanted me to sign on my computer and let him have access so he could clear up this very dangerous virus. When I told him I was in my car, and I would call him back.
You are not alone.
As a retired accountant you should have known better and payed your taxes. That is why they are calling you😁

I have a call blocker, so I don't get them, but on Tuesday a friend told me about similar calls she gets occasionally. She knows they're bogus.
As for the calls telling me my computer has a virus, I used to tell them I didn't have a computer.

I have been retired for 9 years, don't really pay much in taxes. It is a scam, I was simply trying to get a feel for how widespread this is.

Yes, I have blocked the numbers, but they keep changing them. Once a used a whistle I had, that number never came up again. Regarding the computer, I told them I had an Apple.

Hi Mike I get a lot of them through the year. But around tax time, they really get going. :) But I play with them and ask a bunch of questions and other goofy things. Most of them hang up on me about 10 minutes in to the questions.:):)
I had one...just hang up.
It's not only in the States, we have them in the UK also pretending to be from HMRC (the UK equivalent of IRS). The funny thing was that I received this call froma woman with an American accent threatening me with legal action and then ended the call with "Goodbye and take care"! Sounded very professional!
We have gotten these phone calls also...actually a sweat lil' old lady made the call to us,,,, we called the number back once and then we got a foreign person and were politely told to go F*** ourselves....

You should never call back, some of those #'s are from over seas and you will be billed for making them and the one at the other end profits, similar to the old 900 #'s
