Playing around with the 600 mm focal length of the Sigma 150-600 C.

Nice, but the last two are superb. Great background, composition, everything!
Looks like my menagerie of free range pets. Nice pics... So, what do you think of the Sigma 150-600 C? I got one to use on my D7200 and I have the S model for my Canon bodies. The S is primarily used on a tripod, the C I use handheld pretty much all the time.
Nice set. I really love the composition and background of the Cardinal shot! The Blue Jay is very sharp and colorful also.

I went with the C version because I wanted to be able to hike around in the woods. Thus far I like it very much. It doesn't have the build or optics quality of the S version but that thing is a beast to hand hold. I use it on a D7100. Thanks everyone for your comments.

When I looked at the Cardinal shot, I said to myself," Wow, this is a really good composition". I am sorry to say it was all luck!!

I've taken my S model into some fairly nasty environments and it doesn't seem to care. I just give it a good wipe down before putting it away. I'm a bit more careful with my C model, no high levels of sea mist or sand or dust in the air and again, a good wipe down before putting it away.
The optics in the S model are a little better than the C model but the resulting images are not that different. I did a side by side non-scientific comparison of the 2 lenses, the S model mounted on the 24.2 megapixel Canon 80D and the C model mounted on the 24.2 megapixel Nikon D7200. The images were pretty much the same with the S model being a wee bit sharper when I cropped. I printed both images on 11 X 14 paper and hanging side by side they are pretty much identical.

I really struggled with the decision with which one to buy and I wasn't going to get both since I am an enthusiast, not a Pro. I had read the optics were close between the S and the C version, it is good to hear from someone out in the field that they are finding similar results!!
