I use LR CC, I have d/l presets and extracted them, but cannot open them in LR. I can see the presets in LR but when I click on them, nothing happens. I am thinking I did something wrong. Also I did a d/l of the Nic software but also cannot get them into LR CC/ Help

For the NIK software, make sure you have Lightroom set to NOT store presets with catalog - it is a check box in Lightroom's preferences under the presets tab.... if it is checked, uncheck it and the NIK plugins should show up.

If the presets you downloaded appear in your develop module under presets they have been installed....open a photo in develop module and note the develop settings on the right side panels.... click a preset and then note if there are changes to the settings on the right hand panels....

They could be very subtle....

BTW - Presets are just a set of settings for the develop module panels.... the same settings that you can make with the sliders.... I once had many presets, now I have a very few, and mostly ones I create myself easily ;)

Nik software is a plug in and not presets. You should be able to see the Nik plugins by right clicking on the picture you want to edit and go to "Edit In" and you can then select which plugin you want. You can also go to "Photo">"Edit In"> and then select the plugin of choice from the tool bar across the top.

The NIK add ins are not presets... they are separate editors that you get to by passing the image to them from Lightroom, they should show up by right clicking on an image to "edit in"... the setup will either call for a TIFF or PSD file that gets passed to it for editing then when you are done with NIK, it will be stacked as an image in Lightroom with the original.... you can pick what type of image is generated and passed to the NIK software by editing the edit in menu... in most cases a TIFF as a 16 bit file using prophoto is what should be used since Lightroom works in prophoto color space... you can always export the finished product from Lightroom as a JPG & reduce the color space down to sRGB.
