TV Show - Reversed Film

I was watching a TV show a few nights ago, and something looked strange. I rewound the scene and watched it again. The film was reversed, so that the driver and steering wheel were on the right side of the car, and the license plate read backwards. I've noticed the same thing before, so apparently, it's not unheard of. Keep your eyes open. This would work with film, but I doubt tape or digital would allow for such a mistake.

Likely a cheap way for the director to maintain continuity — things traveling in the right direction to match other takes. Not hard to do in digital. "Flip Horizontal" is one of the more basic image transformations. Done briefly it would evade notice by all but the sharpest observers. You still got it, Jerry!

What was the show?

Was the entire show reversed?

I notice things like that all the time. In film and TV; more in still shots though. Likely my ADHD. You can't imagine how many "Right Handed" Jimi Hendrix's there are in photos. And that goes for Steve Stills, Albert King and many other Left-Handed Guitarists.

I believe that this kinda thing falls under the purview of the "continuity director" It's kinda like a different plane landing that the one that took off. Or an airplane landing on runway 37 (There is no such thing as runway 37)

"(There is no such thing as runway 37)" I bet there's no Runway 13, either.

Runways are generally lined up with prevailing wind, if the geography of the site allows. The number is the direction of the runway, at the tens digit. So no runway 37, but 1 through 36, yes.

JFK airport in New York has 13 left and right runways. The other direction is 31 right and left.

I'm surprised they have one numbered 13.

I took a flight with a friend in his small plane - from a small airport. When we were landing, the "tower" told us to land on Runway 2. There was only one runway, so the number indicated the direction of the approach. I thought that was funny.

I believe cars in commercials often have numbers that look correct when reversed so it can be shown as right- or left-hand drive! eg: AWA 101.

I've also noticed this in commercials, most notably for cars. Usually happens so fast that the average person doesn't 'see' it ... but I happened to capture one on DVR, thought it looked 'funny' so rewound and did a stop motion examination.

Save a few bucks for the advertiser I guess ...

Seen in B movies. A boat in a river cruising in front of a waterfall. But they wanted the boat to go the other way, so the waterfall flows up.!!

I've never seen a reversed Hendrix picture. I have however seen reversed bicycle pictures, the crank and chain should properly be on the right side.

Back in the 50's I served on an Navy icebreaker that did initial surveys prior
to the International exploration of the Antarctic in 1958. Our messdeck was divided
by a walkway where the nightly movie was shown on a hanging sheet. The number of movies were limited so after the second time sitting on the right side of the screen, we shifted to the other side - guns drawn with the left hand, cars driven on the wrong side of the road, rings put on the right hand, etc. some westerns we watched so many times we knew all the actor's lines. Great memories!
