Re/ #46: A lot of those German G.I.'s didn't get back home until about 1954; a lot didn't get home at all.
Re/ #54: I was only 11 years old, but I distinctly remember this picture as one of a series in Life magazine when it happened; the guy with the bayonet killed the pol, stabbing him multiple times before security people killed him.
