A Few "Up" Photos

We have had "back to back" clear skies with "average" seeing ...but in my opinion the last three nights do not get any better than this.....and tonight is going to be another good night! Not too sure how many images I can attach to one post but I have 4 to post and I am processing two more now....will add later if they are worth posting. It's great to be out at night, again!!!
....and in between these images, my youngest daughter was married to a super young man!
I have been using the Nikon D800e (modified with the heat reduction system) but it is time to put that to rest for the summer - just too bloody hot for an uncooled camera and I am dusting off the CCD Atik383L. I thought with the short 30 second exposures, using the F/3.9 Newt would help the heat management issues using my Nikon but nada. It will be in the upper 90s today with humidity equally high - yucky is how you feel in this weather - day or night. I don't even dry off after a shower - no point - save towels too.

I do recall visiting South Carolina some years ago when my son was stationed at Shaw AFB, and I do recall the summer humidity! Living in California, we don't know what humidity is (well at least most of the time). And if there is a mosquito problem, it is usually limited to a single mosquito, and once squashed, you're usually done with mosquitoes for the night.
But we do have termites, and I just found two spots on my house that they have started to attack.

I got a good taste of your humidity in Tennessee when we were there for 6 days. Yuk!
And Dad and I bar-B-qued up some Lightening Chicken.
We didn't intend to, but a slam-dunk thunder storm rolled through and darn near drowneded us as I was pulling the meat off the grill.
And that was out under Dad's summer porch (free standing) when the rain turned horizontal.
It just poured off the back porch of the house.
We finally had to run for it with the larder triple covered with foil. We got soaked in 20 feet.
Mom stuck it in the oven to hold it till the family arrived.
Fun. But you can keep it.
We have hot tubs and sauna's out here if we want to pressure cook.

I did a video last night.....at 12:30 when I started imaging it was still in the low 90's and the humidity was off the charts. I thought I would show how I use Astrotortillia along with BackYard EOS but for Nikon...and PhD2. I also did the Polemaster video. As soon as I edit them and put on Vimeo I will send the link for those of you who are bored out of your minds waiting for clear skies. We have several more nights of decent skies...or so my weather forecast predicts.

And to think that when I go back there to visit and mention to anyone that I live in California, the common thing I hear is "Oh, you have earthquakes. I would never want to live there."
It may be hot by day, but when the sun goes down, so does the temperature. 7AM right now, and the temperature is showing 56 degrees. And there is no concern about humidity at all. According to weather.com, it is 68%. I'm sure that will go lower as the day gets hotter.

We still have a home in Ca....north of LA at Frazier Park. It's a beautiful setting of locals - all low income but we love the folks there and always enjoy our visit. I still have a Weekender Trailer that we would take to Yosemite and camp - take photos and chill. Frazier is about 5000 ft above sea level we have snow up until May.....the LA crowd head to our part of the country to ski and play in the snow. We are about 1 hour north of LA on the 5. I hate to fly - and sure don't like the drive - and for the last 4 years our grands have lived in Southern France (moving back to Spartanburg the first of July YEA) ...so any flying we have done have been to Nice France to see our crowd. Now that all of our grands and Kids live in Spartanburg or close Atlanta, my wife, Mimi and I may just have to take a trip out and spend some summer time when my break from sports photography comes. I hate toting equipment but may just have to ship my small iOtpron mount and just use DSLR and Nikon lens to do some night sky stuff.

I lived in Frazier Park for a couple of years.
And Lebec, and was the live on site for Pyramid RV Park during development for about a year.
I live in Santa Clarita now. Have since the mid-1990's.
I used to commute to my job in Sylmar from the area.
I use to refer to Frazier as, "Freeze-your-a$$-off-after-dark Park."
Looks like your place is on the "Sunny Side".

Lordy Lordy - As my dad would say, "it is a small world...but I still I would hate to have to paint it." Yep we are on the Sunny side...and as you know, right smack dab on the San Andreas Fault.
