What did I do this time? Every time that I open and close a photo file in PSE14 a PDF file is created for the photo. Can't seem to figure out what setting I messed up. Please help.

Charles, I do not know PSE14, but use PS CS6. It sounds like you have something checked in the Save Menu options. I did a Google search and found this article, perhaps it will help. Good Luck. Gary http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/saving-exporting-images.html

When you go to save your photo, do you use the "Save As" feature?
And of course, you want to select .jpg for the format.

Sit back, take a deep breath and go slowly!!!!
Select Save As from the menu.
In the pop-up dialog box, do you see the two lines:
-- File name: (with the default name of your image - you can change it at this point if you like, or add something like "ed" at the end of the file name but before the the period that separates the file name from the extension.
-- Save as type: (here you see the name of the format to save your image. If it is not set as JPEG, or variation thereof like jpg, jpe), click on the down arrow at the far right of the type field, and from the drop-down list, select JPEG.
Be very careful at this point, as "Photoshop PDF" is right below JPEG.
I believe that you may not have been careful enough in selecting jpg and thus ended up with pdf.
If that is not the case, please, make a note of everything you do, in the order you do it, to save a photo. Then post that list here, and someone will try and make sense of it.

Have been doing exactly as you describe (I think). Will double check. Still have the same problem . Will post here as suggested exact settings being used.
