Wow, just more to not like about Windows 10. Unless it is forced on me, I am not getting it. I keep telling them no. Pesky little buggers.

Mac user* comment...

It seems like a lot of people like Win10. It's different and there are maybe some default settings to undo but that is the nature of new OS's. I am looking forward to trying Win10 at work.

*I have known and used many different OSs over the years, I currently use Mac OS and Windows7 at work and at home I prefer OS X, but times change, so I'm going to build a lynx box soon and see how I like that.

Or you could stay with Windows 7 until 2020.
By then Microsoft will have changed its mind again and brought out another OS!

Yes, I too like Windows 10. In fact I haven't noticed any differences that prevents me from carrying out any tasks. I have been retired for 8 years, so you being younger will like it too. I have only had Windows 10 in the last 3 weeks as I got fed up with the constant reminders. I think that any problems of last year have been put right. There are a few things in different places, but it doesn't affect normal correspondence, so go ahead you over 60's and give Windows 10 a try.

When it comes to Windows 10 updating (probably about a week later), providing you follow instructions you would be ok, but if you are like me just get someone who knows what they are doing to sort it out for you , which means pressing the right buttons and that's it done. Operator don't understand technical instructions, but they are not really technical - just frightened that it goes wrong.

This is good to know!! I turned on my computer one Monday morning to a screen with "Welcome to Windows 10"!!! I didn't want it but couldn't get back to my Win7 which I had before. I've tried the fixes some have offered but just not computer savvy enough to do it!
For those who haven't got it....don't!!!

My wife uses a Windows-based laptop. The other day, as she was browsing Facebook, she was suddenly interrupted by a splash window stating her machine was being upgraded to Win10. She had clicked nothing, had seen nothing to click. Microsoft just did this all by its own self. Getting close to talking her into going with a MacBook or Macbook Pro.

I would encourage you to get your computer seen to by a technician, as it will only take about 45 mins the most to update. I too couldn't understand the fixes. It was just a matter of following the on screen information, but like you I wasn't savvy enough to do it myself. If you have teenagers around they could do it for you. Apparently Windows 10 works better if the equipment is not very old and my Laptop is not yet three years old. Once it is fixed you will love Windows 10. Trust me.

Thank you very much for sharing this link.

I have been resisting the change to Windows 10 but finally gave in. I bought a new internal 1TB SSD and a 1TB back-up unit. My son provided some excellent technical support and after a day of creating a new back-up, we installed Windows 10 in my Dell PC. Today, I got Norton Security back running and Skype. No major problems - it works fine although there are some things that I will need to relearn. I believe that the major improvement in performance is the SSD.

I believe that my son has already made the changes recommended in this link, but I will check to be sure.

Thanks again.

...Google "Never10"...I've installed it on my "photo" machine, I *did* upgrade to 10 on my other desktop a few months ago...went thru the "10 Things..." and got rid of alot of trash. That said, I kinda like 10 after getting used to the quirks...really fast. I'm on the fence, but will probably do my other machine before the "freeness" ends. I have a MacBook Pro with a virtual Windows program, it's 8.1 and, unfortunately, I can't get that dog upgraded, grrrrrrr...but I only use it for apps that are not dual platform, so I save a few bux...

Thank you. I did 9 of the 10. Couldn't seem to locate "System" using the directions in #9. The problem is not knowing just what the heck all this stuff
is about, and is it integral to the OS or to how another more important program, sorry "app" performs.
