I've lived in this wonderful photogenic city since 1976. I even had a small apartment in the famous "French Quarter" behind the Black Smith Shop. Many nights I fell asleep to that piano bar.
I have since retired, and am no launching my photo interest. I do a good bit of traveling, both in the States and Europe. I'll be going on a long cruise in just a few weeks in the Med.
I presently shoot a Canon EOS 50d, Canon Vixia M52, and Fuji S5200.
I enjoy taking wildlife photos in my backyard. We have a large canal in the backyard, so I see lots of shore birds, waders of all sorts, and pelicans

Welcome Bill!!! I visited your wonderful photogenic city a few years back, lookinf forward to seeing more of your photos!! :D
Welcome to the forum, Bill. I'm also looking forward to seeing some of your work.
I went to New Orleans every year from 1974 to 1993 for Mardi Gras, Southern Decadence, and sometimes the Jazz Festival and the Crawfish Festival. I have relatives in Slidell, near UNO, and over in Chalmette. Haven't been back since 2003, but I always enjoyed taking pictures in the French Quarter and out in the swamps where the 'gators like to sun on old logs. I lost all my pictures in the Great Hard Drive Crash of August 2005, so feel free to send me some of yours. :)

Welcome to the "HOG". Love that city. Always enjoy pics from there.
Thanks for all the replys. I've been busy getting ready for the cruise. I felt I had to get some new glass for my camera. I bought it as a "kit". It came with all the Canon glass, but all were either non-stableized, or just carrying all that glass was impractical. So, I sold my two lenses and bought a Tamron 18-270, fully stableized. This lens will be my walk-around lens on the cruise. I'll be doing some shots between now and then for practice. All my filters and doubler are now "junk" in the bag due to size. I had to order a new polorizer at 62mm.
Hi Bill, welcome to UHH. Boy are you going to enjoy your cruise in the Med, Took one for 17 days in 08
