I am a VERY amateur photographer, even though I love it, just don't have the time it takes to learn my camera and lenses and how to use them properly. My wonderful husband thinks I need to have all this nice stuff and I really appreciate that thought, but right now I just don't have the time to devote to learning and using. I have a Nikon D3000 and a Tamron 18-270 mm F/3.5-6.3 which I use all the time and absolutely love. My wonderful husband thought I needed a little more "reach" at times and bought me a used Tamron SP AF 200-500 mm F/5 - 6.3 DILD(AF) Model A08N Nikon compatible. The issue is it doesn't auto focus with my D3000 body so now he wants to buy me another body that this lens will auto focus. I'm working on learning to use the lens and how to use it manually. I try to find time to read this forum and have learned a lot from all of you wonderful photographers and I greatly appreciate all the information and feedback out there. Suggestions for a camera body would be awesome or any other words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Susan, if you want to stay up to date then I would suggest any of the 7000 series all being dx bodies. Hope this helps. Happy shooting. Just take time and enjoy your photography, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Hi Susan, if you want a real easy to use, light weight, close to your D3000 camera, get yourself a D3200 or :3300. 24 meg. not a lot of bells and whistles. Try one and you'll love it.
I use a D3200 as a back up to my D7100 and really like it. Whichever you choose, just go have some fun.

Susan, I am not sure if the Tamron 200-500 has an Auto Focus motor built in on the lens and your D3000 does not have a built in motor either. You have to manually focus the 200-500 and also consider buying a tripod because the lens does not have the Image Stabilization and it would be hard to focus hand held. Your 18-270 has a built in motor. If you are considering to get another camera/bodies, note that there are 2 different kind of bodies, A CropSensor (DX or APS-C) and a Full Frame (FX). I would suggest you get a Nikon D7200 (DX) camera and most of the users here in UHH will agree to that. Good luck on your hobby and keep us posted on your shots.
