Polemaster - for polar alignment
Telegizmo365 - cover for scope - We had storms last night - not bad but rain nonetheless and this morning my scope and electronics were no worse for the wear. This cover also keeps you scope cool in the summer sun. Pretty amazing WELL MADE kit.
Orion Newtonian 8 inch F/3.9 - great widefield at 800mm - faster than a speeding bullet aperture allowing for 15 and 30 second exposures compared to 300 and 500 seconds on the SCT at ISO's of 1600.
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I wasted money on - my first telescope purchase, the Nexstar 8SE on a fork alt-az mount (mount has never been used) - this is the orange SCT that I will use from time to time for planetary, moon, and sun stuff.
I wasted money on the Atik 383L OSC CCD camera - why why why didn't I choose the mono version - dumb dumb dumb and more dumb me!
Televue Eyepieces - what on earth was I thinking - my eyes are old and visual astronomy is not going to happen. The bloody money I tied up in these varied eyepieces could have been invested in filters and filter wheel for the Mono CCD camera I should have bought.
....as my papa used to tell my mama, "Fool and money will soon part."

Live and learn...I like telegizmo too, they even custom made a tripod cover for my cge pro, I think they only charged $10. Like the company, and they did it fast.

no kidding, and funny. I remember thinking that the Edsel was the coolest car and the car of the century.........and I gave the Mustang one year - seemed like it was made out of tin. Go figure!
In otherwords, seek stock buying info from someone else.
Well crap - the sky has gone from no clouds this morning to more threats of rain - dark clouds.

Gives you time to work on the next video?!?!?!
I have the telegizmos 365 and am very impressed with it, has weathered several storms with no problems.
My biggest mistake was buying a heavy rig, the Celestron 4.7" 120mm refractor on an eq4 mount and adding a 30 lb extension collar for height and stability. I bought it in my early 60's, and after a couple of years my back was no longer up to the task. The telescope has sat under the bed wrapped in a blanket for the last 5 years and the mount has sat in the garage.
My best purchase was the binocular eyepiece. The views were pretty spectacular, and it also let me have one eyepiece for locating objects while using the other for the usb astronomy camera once the object was located. Of course I did need to buy two of all those teleview eyepieces for viewing.
If I could have a 15 lb rig with the views of an 8" reflector I'd go back to astronomy. But that would probably violate the laws of Physics. For now my only scope is the Nikon J1 and the 55-300mm zoom lens for the moon (gives an equiv 810mm focal length), and the D7100 and 50mm f 1.4 wide open for 15 sec star shots.
Talking about if the money was wasted or spent reminds me that in the 1960's the Rolling Stones U.S. sales were managed by Allen B. Klein who set a world record for crooked management. When he set up the Stones' U.S. publishing company he used the same name as the British Company but he set it up in his name so he controlled all the U.S. royalties and US publishing rights for all their U.S sales, which he mostly withheld from them, and also didn't bother to pay their taxes. The Stones never recovered most of the US profits from their 1963 to 1968 record sales. When Keith Richards was asked about the whole fiasco years later, he said "I figured it was the price of an education".
