I will be traveling to Moab and I hope to visit Canyonlands, Arches, and Dead Horse SP. Can anyone suggest which photo sites should not be missed? I am interested in all types of photography and especially night photography. Thanks for any info.

If you have the time visit all of them. Dead Horse Point at sunrise should not be missed. Canyonlands is spectacular anytime for the scenic beauty. in Arches take the trails to appreciate the real beauty of the park. Arches is a perfect place for night shots as it it higher elevation and away from a lot of lights . Was there 4 years ago and is one of my all time favorites. Check out the Visitors Center, they have brochures for the best time to shoot certain ares. Enjoy!

We were just there a coupe weeks ago, touring by auto, not much walking (we're older people). Arches was the best, you're right in among everything, alongside, next to, surrounded by. At Canyonlands and Deadhorse you drive over to the edge and look down into the hole. They have their moments but Arches was best.

Good morning. I have visited Moab, Utah, twice now, and toured the three places you mention. Dead Horse State Park may seem out of the way, but go there for its views of the Colorado River amid striking erosion formations. It has a large visitor center.

Canyonlands NP has two parts to it -- north and south. Both contain some of the finest, most-interesting landscapes you will ever see. The southern part lies about 60 miles south of Moab. Go there, too, to escape the army of tourists. You will find yourself alone with Mother Nature while experiencing majestic landscape, even as you approach the confines of the park.

Arches NP, whether or not you go on hiking trails, also presents land-forms of visual appeal beyond words. Take your time here to enjoy the compelling desert vistas.

Moab offers all kinds of outdoor adventures. You might consider renting a Jeep to go on the off-road trails in the vicinity of Moab. The scenic roads give you plenty of photographic moments, but the trails present you with the nearness and wonder of it all. You may find yourself alone on the trails for an hour or two at a time, in visual conversation with natural values of the first order.

Note that due to its popularity, Moab rooms get booked up early. Book yours early, too. Otherwise, you may have to stay in Green River, Utah. This situation happened to me once.

Mesa Arch in Canyonlands Island section at sunrise. You can be here at sunrise then hop over to Dead Horse Point before the light has gone bad.

If you haven't seen Bryce I think it's the most awesome park.

If you use Google you will find that there is a wealth of information available about the parks you plan to visit. Some will even tell you where to go and when to get the best pictures. Have a great trip and if you need someone to carry your photography equipment, luggage, etc. just let me know. Heck, will work for expenses only. :-)

My favorite is The Delicate Arch. You can hike to it, and, while the trek is rather arduous, is well worth the "trip". Take lottsa water.

Hope you can open this photo: Delicate Arch.jpg

Here is the photo. Didn't know how to attach it.

Again, once you see this up close, you will fully realize the beauty of the National Park.

Take the Devils Garden Hike from Delicate Arch. You will climb up on to the fins for spectacle views. This hike, if completed, will take you to 7 arches with amazing photos opportunities. We are heading there next month for our 4 th trip. Another photo op is the ranger led tour in to the Fiery Furnace Trail. You must sign up right away at the visitors center as they are limited. Either hike is approx. 3 hours. Have fun.

As senior be sure to stay hydrated and carry extra water snacks for energy. Stay safe meaning don't take the quick way down. This is another place that you can spend month exploring. I have always been surprised and delighted with chance encountered.

I'm arriving from visiting the south and west USA. Have visited Grand Canyon, in a snowy time, Las Vegas the ugly, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Moab and his arches and Yellowstone and his geysers. Worth every minutes of the visit in each spots. Hike if you can to see those "merveilles" in different angles. Enjoy it!!!!!
