Three days since I saw the Mama Coot on her nest Sunday.
She is still there, but now only 4 eggs and not even shells to show what happened to the other two. But this an urban park area, lots of vacant lots and undeveloped land in the area. Gulls, crows, various other birds that would steal/eat an egg. Then you have cats, opossums, coons etc. that also eat eggs.
I hope some of them make it to hatching.
1. right after I got there she got off the nest to get her share of some bread and corn that had been thrown out
7DII, 100-400L @ 130 mm, 1/640 @ f/5.0, ISO 160
2. the nest is still there, but only 4 eggs
400 mm, 1/640 @ f/6.3, ISO 125
3. back on the nest tucking and arranging things
400 mm, 1/500 @ f/6.3, ISO 200
Excellent close shots with lots of detail.
Such nice work Jerry.
Pierre
Thank you very much. Like I said, lots of predators around, not to mention people.
Yes, it is a great combo, I hope to get the Mark 2 version of the lens.
