Installed Windows 10 about 1 month ago and tried to print a photo on my Epson Photo 1400 printer. Photo came out with lines every inch horizontally and printed very fast. Worked with Epson on the phone for 1/2 hour or more, and after doing every test with my 1400 printer they asked me to try printing without using elements 11 on the Epson. I used windows Photo viewer and printed the photo without and issues. The problem lies with Windows 10 and Elements 11. Never had a problem with Windows 8.1
Anyone have any suggestions or has had this problem?
Thanks,
Ron

This might help. You may have a driver update problem and I have found Secunia PCI very helpful in finding drivers and updates to all of my software and devices. Here is the site to download and it's free.

If it were me, I'd consider updating the software to a current version, but beyond that, I'd certainly re-install Elements 11. I've installed Win 10 on 3-4 computers and it has been stable and predictable on all of them. Having been around since the first release of Windows, I have to say that Win 10 is the best yet.

Ron, I am having similar problems with a HP Photosmart 7520. On an eight by ten vertical bars about one inch apart. Four by six prints are perfect. Have wondered if it could be the Kodak paper. This printer has always been a problem but it is paid for and I would like to solve that problem. I am using Elements 14 and windows ten.

I would contact HP and see if they can help. They sometime have driver patches that they don't put on the web for all to see.

I had a similar printing problem with an EPSON printer, but I was using Win7. The printer was still under warranty, and I had it replaced, but the problem did not go away. After the third printer, the problem was finally diagnosed as a printer setting issue. If you go into the printer properties and turn off BI DIRECTIONAL printing the problem should be solved.

Since the problem began with your installation of Win10, I suspect the printer was set to default properties, which including bi-directional printing to improve speed.

On our computers that we upgraded to Win10, I went to each printer company's site and downloaded and installed the latest drivers. The Win10 process assumes the existing drivers meet minimum specifications and does not install a replacement driver.

For other Win10 issues, I strongly suggest checking for new drivers for all peripheral devices including video, sound, touch-pads, and card readers.

WayneT,
Thanks. Tried it and I am good with everything including Elements 11 updates. Still looking for the reason I am having the problem. Have also posted this issue on the Adobe blog with no results yet.

This is the only problem I have run into with Windows 10

When I use Windows Phto Viewer there is no problem with the prints in any size.

Will look in this next. You would think the Epson tech would have had me try that.
Thanks,
Ron

Epson tech support:

After getting two replacement printers under warranty and the problem not going away, somehow my case got elevated to a senior tech who remotely logged into my computer and could see my software settings.

Whenever I install the Epson drivers on a new computer I immediately check printer properties and, sure enough, bi-directional printing is checked by default. And yes I get the 1" spaced stripes. For me this is a very repeatable problem that I now know how to resolve.

jcarlosjr,
I found high speed bi-directional checked under:
Series printing preferences
Advanced
High Speed bi-directional

I unchecked this but it did not let me apply the changes but just save. Thanks for the tip. It must have happened when I went to Windows 10 from 8.1 Hope it stays unchecked.

Try to do the maintenance (Nozzle check) on your printer and see if the lines are aligned. If not just do the maintenance (calibration) and redo it until you get the lines and no missing color. It might work.

Have done that twice even when it showed up good both times.
Did print head alignment
Head cleaning twice whick used up 1/4 of my ink supply.
I will try again since I unchecked High speed bi-directional printing.

Thanks for your help.
