Something a little different than I'm used to shooting and need to know what you all think.
A very elegant capture. The contrast of the white silky leaves with the waxy, earthy green from side view is what makes your photo special.
I love water lilies and find them sort of hard to shoot successfully. You certainly had no trouble doing so! This is quite lovely. I like the angle and the composition.
You've captured this at just the right moment to make the most of this gorgeous light. The DOF leads the eye right to the subject. Beautifully done.
and I agree with AzPicLady ... water lilies are a tough subject!
Nice composition of this water lily. Towards the bottom of "My Profile" page, there is an option to show the image surrounded in black if you desire. When I did this, it shows the little bits of reflected light in the leaves/foliage. I'm wondering if maybe cloning some these out might keep them from being a distraction and taking your eyes away from the beautiful flower?

Thank you for you comments. It was the contrast of the two that I like so much about the water lilies.

Thank you for your comments. I am finally getting used to this particular lens which let's me shoot in macro over a long distance.

Thank you. Shot at ISO 50 and the Sigma 70-300 Lens set on macro it came out better than I thought it would.

This is good to know because I just bought this lens.

It's a good lens but it took me quite a few shots to be able to get it to do what I wanted. Focusing can be a little odd as it doesn't always focus where you expect so it took a while to learn how it worked so I could focus where I wanted. I even started using the macro to shoot portrait type shots which gave me a very shallow DOF. Now that I know how to use it I get focused shots 90% of the time. Good lens for the money. Have fun with it.
