My Garmin GPS has the following navigation options. Fastest, Shortest, Avoid Toll Roads, and possibly one other. Are there other GPS devices with more options? I'm trying to think of what other options would be nice to have, but not sure there are any.

I used shortest route and ended up in a less than desireable portion of Baltimore. Since then I leave it set up for expressway only. No way would I want to go through that experience again.

Mine also alerts me on bridge clearance for my RV.

I would like a "scenic" or country roads option!

My experience with my Garmin is in a country area the shorter distance setting will give you more country roads and some scenic areas.

I discovered this by driving a older gentleman to his destinations looking for addresses he wanted to go to buy items for his salvage and parts business.

I do not have one, but I have read that some feature, as one of their POI options, a symbol that advises of intersection cameras used for ticketing autos.

- One of mine, for flying, has "closest airport."
- Garmin used to have built-in capability to avoid high-crime areas, but was criticized by racist "activists," so the company dumped that feature.

I once had a GPS tell me to go 5 miles up a freeway and then back 5 miles on a surface road to get where I was going. Since I was just testing the GPS for accuracy I just went my old way.

I have a high-end Garmin. Superb in every way.

A friend has a built-in one in his luxury car. A piece of dreck in every respect. Slow, poor routing, poor database.

The ones in airplanes are astonishing and have already saved many lives by enhancing situational awareness.

Does the high end Gamin have any of the navigation options mentioned in the other posts?
