So beautiful, Mark. Do you know the name of that peony? I have one and have had trouble getting the name.

Sorry Carolyn, I have absolutely no idea what this variety's name is. There is a big clump of these and some red ones in our back yard that were there when we moved in here 8 years ago. We mow them all down to the ground every fall and they grow back up every spring. Not sure that would be recommended procedure by anyone into horticulture, but they seem to be able to withstand it.

They naturally die down in the fall, but you should wait till they brown to cut them down. The leaves provide energy to the roots and strengthen the plant for spring growth. Like daffodils, it is not recommended to cut the foliage till it wilts down.

Good advise. I actually think they have reached that stage by the time we cut them down.

Thank you for the nice comment. All these images are SOOC so there has been no enhancement of the colors. I would say they are basically just quick snap shots made with my 50mm Asahi Takumar Super Macro fully manual focus and exposure lens, mounted on a Pentax with a mount adapter.

Thanks for the compliment John. Yeah, that bee just happened to fly in while I was focusing the lens on the flower, so I just tripped the shutter a couple times before he moved on.
