What do you photog's out there feel is the best all around lens for a DX format camera. I have an Nikon D7000. I tried the Sigma 18-270mm. But, I really didn't care for it. I didn't like the fact that I had to lock the barrel of the lens. And it seemed it took a while to focus.

The 18-200mm is a popular lens. that was my all-around lens when I had the D7xxx series. Don't rule out used and refurbished.

I'm assuming you mean the Nikon brand? I did find this used on B & H website. Did you move to full frame camera?

I had a D7100 and my walk-around lens was the 18-300. Great lens.

I have the Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 VR DX lens I use on my D90 and D7000. It's sharp, has great build quality, and has half the distortion on Nikon's superzoom lenses.

I use 18-70mm AF-S 3.5-4.5 DX. It's sharp, compact and available used for around $100.

First thing I would do is get an FX lens...if you ever decide to go full frame, you can take the lens with you, you buy a DX lens and decide to go full frame, you may be buying a new lens to boot.

Nikon 18-140mm. Or already recommended, 18-200mm.

I got the Nikon 18-140 the first of the year and so far have been very happy with it. It has become my go-to lens for my D5200. Went with the 18-140 over the 18-200 because of price and the -140 is supposed to have better optics.

The 18-140 which I have not used and the 18-200 that I have used are both great selection for a cropped sensor.
