Bridge Under Troubled Waters

THE SYSTEM:
I am running Photoshop CC on a 27-inch iMac (Mid 2011), running OSX El Capitan 10.11.4, with 8 GB ram, 149 GB free space on my HD, and 1.7 TB free space on my HD2. My images are on a desktop hard drive, with 2.3 TB free space. I can access items on all three of these drives via Finder.

THE PROBLEM:
When I open Bridge CC, I get a message that “Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. Please try purging the central cache in Cache Preferences to correct the situation.”

Bridge>Preferences opens to Cache Preferences, where “Keep 100% Previews in Cache” is checked, as is “Automatically Export Cache To Folders When Possible”

Cache Size is set about ¾ of the way to 500,000

Selecting “Compact Cache” allowed me to open Bridge without the notice to purge the cache, but Bridge does not function properly: when I select different folders, nothing changes in the Filmstrip display, and I cannot quit Bridge except by Force Quitting.

Quitting and reopening Bridge, I get the same notice about purging the cache. Clicking Purge Cache in Cache Preferences, I get a warning that all thumbnails will be deleted. I click OK. Nothing seems to happen, and the Preferences window cannot be closed.

After a few minutes, I force quit again, reopen again, to the same message about purging the cache.

When I open Photoshop CC, I can open images from my external hard drive.

THE QUESTION:
What can I do? Is there a way to re-install Bridge CC?

You can uninstall any app right from the CC APP - as long as you do not remove any of the settings files you will lose nothing, then reinstall from the CC app again and you will download the current version and it will reinstall where it was.

In the CC APP, click the gear to the right of the App you want to remove then click UNINSTALL....see image below

BTW - on a Mac, deleting the file is pretty much the same as uninstalling it....Bridge would be located within your applications folder and if you drag it into the trash or right click and delete it accomplishes pretty much the same thing, but I would go with uninstalling from the CC App so the CC app stays current.

I put the Adobe CC app, in the folder "Adobe Creative Cloud," in the dock, but right-licking it and clicking "Open" gets nothing, likewise double clicking. Ditto by getting the "Creative Cloud.app" from the folder Applications>Utilities>Adobe Creative Cloud>ACC. So, I guess I don't know where to find the CC app.

OK, I found Adobe CC up top, opened it, and found I had to update everything. Let's see what happens now

Soo, after updating Photoshop, Lightroom, & Bridge, I opened Bridge from Adobe CC and that old warning about the cache came up, with the additional note that, when Bridge was re-launched, the cache problem would be resolved. It allowed me to click OK, and then quit Bridge. And, when I restarted it, all is well.

Thanks for your help.
