Anyone who has been to Ireland will appreciate this lol!
That's a perfect example. We were there last summer. If we had to ask directions, we learned to only worry about the first step or two - then ask again when we got that far. Trying to comprehend an entire set was beyond our ability.

I should emphasize: Never have we traveled to a place where the people are more gracious and willing to help. You would never stand puzzling on a street corner more than a minute before someone would offer help and directions. It's a lovely country with lovely people.
Btw, we stayed mainly at B&B's. Without fail the hosts would almost plan your daily itinerary for you. They know all the little secrets of when to go where and why. One host even planned our evening dining for us based on which pub had the best band playing that night, lol.

I totally agree - wonderful people and always more than willing to help. We stayed at the same B&B in Clifden, Connemara for many years. Clifden town centre has 2 main streets with 19 bars where the music is great AND free!!
I love the country and it was great to visit and when you are completely lost and know that you have gone the wrong way and you stop and talk to a farmer to ask directions and he starts with, "if I was going there I wouldn't start from here!!" I knew we were in trouble, lol

Perfectly clear. :D
My wife and I rented a car there many years ago. Asking for directions, we received replies very similar to that. What surprised us was the absence of road names and signs.
True story. We asked farmer out on the back roads of Kerry for directions to the Dublin Road. Reply : ' Well now, if I was going to Dublin, its not from here I'd be leaving.'
My wife and I visited Ireland this past fall and had no problem driving ourselves around. Everyone is correct -- the Irish are extremely friendly helpful folks. And a beautiful country!
