I got setup pretty early for tonight so
I thought I would shoot the Sun in preparation for the upcoming Mercury Transit May 9th.
Jim I just can not pull out any Sun Flares. What is your secret???

Craig, run out and try your Ha7nm filter.
It, in conjunction with the Badder film, pops the Sun out of the image.
I was pleasantly surprised. Still fiddling myself.
That small sunspot was what I saw, too.

Thanks for looking in Sonny.
To late today it's in the trees.
I'll see if I can get it with the Ha Convertion Camera tomorrow AM.

The scope is pure Hydrogen Alpha. It's very narrow in its passing.
This is my shot of the spot today.
Along the left side is a line of what looks like possible flares so I am wondering if the Auroras are going to be coming up in the next day or so?
You can see your indent at the top as well.

I'll have to try the IR converted D600 next time I get a shot at the Sun.
