M82 Cigar Galaxy

OK I went to work last night on the M82 Galaxy in spite of the Moon light pollution.
I think I got a decent shot of the M82.
10 90 sec Lights and 10 Bias, 10 Darks.
Stacked and processed in Astro FX and Lightroom.
Now I just need to learn all the nuances of AFX.
It's a little noisy.
The second one has been run through Topaz DeNoise.

Nicely done. What equipment did you use for this?

Just a couple more tweaks and Hubble will have to start worrying!!! Actually, I have yet to see a small scope pull in those hydrogen plumes that Hubble can see. They appear to be a really difficult target.

Thank you very much Jim, I do like what Topaz can do without turning it to mush.

That would be nice Jim H to pull in the Hydrogen plumes.
I only shot this for 90 sec with the Celestron KAF 8300 camera and the AFX software that came with it.
I did tweak it a little in Lightroom and Topaz Denoise.
So I'll have to see what it will do at 3 min.
I'll also have to see what SGP can do for me.

I was wondering if you used your new toy. Looks like you got the hang of it.

Once you get use to NOT having the live view, it really isn't bad. Its hard at first, but mostly because you are not accustomed to a blind shot...get your focus, setup exposure time and let the equipment do the rest. PS I never used many of the features in AstroFX, I did go as far as to stack and stretch.

I am interested in your experience in making the DSLR jump to CCD and your opinion as to how this process has gone.

You might need more time.

Yes I think I'll just try stacking and saving my work and work it in other programs.

It is a process that I have just begun so I will post my experiences as I post more.
Not having Live View is a real jump but I am getting used to the rolling "Focus" option in AFX.
I did it pretty well last night and have left the camera mounted to the scope for tonight.
