She was in a mood today..hissing at me and getting all fidgety! Guess she got up on the wrong side if her nest today!

Showing off her eggs...again!

Very nice, Sue, but she should have been nice to you!

I went down to the pond at work today to check on my feeders and again they were empty on the ground and there were goose feathers on the ground also. These are very persistent clever birds. The feeders were over 20 feet up in the trees, hanging from parachute cord. The geese somehow managed to launch an assault on the feeders until the wire loop that holds the lid in place and the feeders hang from came loose and the feeders dropped to the ground. My only remaining option is to use one of my large caged feeders but I'm hesitant to do so, I'm afraid the geese would try the same tactic on the heavy duty vermin proof feeder and get hurt in the process.

On the path back from the pond I encountered a mother guarding her young and she had a hissy fit. I wish I had a camera with me. Next time...

Aren't geese fun?!

I love geese in general and Canada geese in particular. They're devoted to their families. In the second shot, mama appears to be turning her eggs so they warm evenly.

Very nice shots Sue. I hope you get some of the kids.

She sure should, Corky! I mean, who else brings her fresh water each day? LOL Thanks for looking!

They are fun, rmorrison...sometimes! "My" mama goose is very nice most of the time. We'll see how she is tomorrow! Sorry about your feeder!

Thanks so much for looking, Vicki! I'm sure I'll get lots of shots of the kids; I did last year. I'm just worried about their getting to the water safely. The creek isn't far, but they have to navigate a busy road..not to mention the parking lot where the nest is!

Sounds like you got a bit too close for comfort Sue. What do you do with the hatchlings (or whatever they're called), keep them as pets?

No, the mother and her mate walk the babies down to the creek. I just worry 'cause they not only have to navigate the parking lot where she chose to make her nest, but they'll have to walk down a busy street. Hope they make it okay! Thanks for looking, Paul!

Be glad it was an angry Goose and not a Mama Brown Bear!

Morning Sue and more lovely photos, I'm guessing Mrs Canada goose was giving some warning signals out to keep anyone near to keep away from her babies.
