Those are some really large boxes. I may have to drive down from Albuquerque and be a nosey Norman.
Curious as to just want you spent the NM astro budget on.
;)

You are right , I spent the budget on this one, been saving for this for 3 years , I have $11.47 left in my astro act now and its burning a hole in my pocket, just can't decide what to spend it on !!
I guess the pics are posting , I can't see them :| :|

Looks nice. The next thing I would save those Astro Bucks on is a Red Dot Finder. I find that during initial alignment, you are never close enough to use the finder scope.

And speaking of finder scopes, I dump the kit finder scope and put a good one on it.

And do you have the proper adapters to connect your camera? The common adapter is the T-adapter with 42mm threads. I don't use that size. I go to the 48mm threads. Just a little bit wider and less chance of vignetting.

Also make sure you have sufficient counter weights to balance the scope on both axis when the weight of the camera is added. I had to add additional weight.

Looking forward to some examples being posted.

I can use the red dot from my other scope , you are absolutely correct , they are always more useful than the finder scope . I think I have the larger diameter camera adapter , I'll have time to check that out on Sunday I hope . This thing has 78 pounds of counter weights , I sure hope I don't need any more ! It's a darn good idea to balance with camera and all accessories mounted ,thanks , I will do that . Hopefully I'll get this set up outside next and try it out (prolly just in time for the next thunderstorm)

WOW Steve, you done good.
It is really beautiful. Can I assume it is the 10".
Craig
PS: With the combination of the finest optics, a robust German equatorial mount and the revolutionary StarLock system, the LX850 is the smartest and most complete astro-imaging solution available.

Yeah the star lock system is what really caught my attention , and I considered the 10" but I figured , in for a penny in for a pound, settled on the 14" . I'm fortunate they weren't offering a 16" or would have had to sold my pickup !
I have yet to power it up maybe tomorrow. It showed up about 2 weeks before I was expecting it to, and I wasn't ready , now I can't hardly wait to get it outside !

OMG 14" are you going to build an observatory for it???
I'm tring to figure out something myself that won't cause a divorce.
Craig
PS: Sonny uses a 40 gal garbage can to cover his.

Yes Craig , the observatory is coming along slowly but surely, I have a 12' dome that got riddled with bullets and vandalized, but I almost have it straightened out ,,,, the pier has been poured and the foundation is done , just need wall and a door ,,,, and some time, there doesn't seem to be very much available anymore,, if nothing else I better start looking for a large trash bin !!!

Holy Cow!

America, The Hubble has landed in New Mexico!

Naw, my 32 gallon trash can wouldn't cover much on that Space Ship.

78 pounds of counter balance weight? I'd have to put my AGM battery on the scale with everything else to come up to the counterweights alone.

Your guide scope is probably bigger than my telescope.
And do tell, is that an electric filter ahead of your diagonal?
What a Beauty!

You want a link to Barrett Manufacturing in Arizona?
That would put a stop to clowns shooting your dome.

You do realize it is going to rain for the rest of the year now, don't you?
