I've been thinking about doing some bird photography and finally got around to it. On 2/27/16, I got a ride to the St. Croix river near Prescott, WI. A lot has been said about the D810 not being the best for birding, but I thought it did a really good job under the conditions. The birds were out over the water in excess of 100 yards. I used a Nikon 300 f4 af lens, 1/320 sec, f32. I shot the pic using a monopod, which seconds as a cane for me. The shot has been cropped from about 25mb to 3.3mb. I was surprised at how well it did. Comments are welcome. Leon
Very nice, Leon. I like the way you captured the birds'wings in opposite directions. It made for excellent contrast.

Thanks. The mallards were trying to find an acceptable place to land. They came close on this one. Leon

Great capture!
Thanks. Wish they were closer. The day before there were eagles resting on the edge of the ice. The day of the pictures they were off somewhere. Even the honkers were off somewhere. This was the first time I ever tried to shot a bird in flight and learned a lot from just this one experience. LEon
