Saw russbowden’s main forum topic the other day regarding the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens, and decided to buy one. I have not used a fixed focal length lens for nearly thirty years :)

With my Canon T3i the equivalent angle of view is 64 mm. Shot in raw, edits include detail enhancements. Uncropped.

Thanks for your visit!

Linda From Maine, these are nice pictures produced with your new lens. Good detail. I would say that lens is a keeper. Thanks for sharing. Tejaswrangler :)

You picked some nice subjects to test a new lens. It performed very well and did a great job of capturing the detail.

Your composition turns these piles of junk into something well worth looking at in 2 dimensions.

Nice work on all these, Linda. I'm a fan of old stuff--it reminds me of me on some days. Apparently that lens is a good one.

Thank you all very much for your time and terrific comments. I wanted a prime lens so I would be forced to slow down and think about compositions a bit more, ala film days :)

Those are great Linda!! I like a fixed lens!! Like what you did with them. Plus I like the truck and a half, better than if it were 2 trucks :) Makes me want to visit out train museum today!!

Interesting and colorful shots. Your processing of these is also very complementary to the subjects. Sometimes it doesn't take a new subject to inspire us but rather a new approach and changing lenses can open doors to creativity. I have a couple of primes that I really enjoy using but still lean toward the zooms when I don't know what I will encounter.
