I can live with a Bad President

I wrote the following and sent it to everyone I could think of on March 10th, whether I knew them well or had merely met them. You have my permission to do whatever you care to with the following:

"We can survive a bad President. We have done it in the past, we are doing it now and we will survive.

What we cannot and will not survive is a Supreme Court which consistently rules contrary to our values, beliefs and way of life. An Obama, or Clinton or Sanders appointed Court will rule for the next 35 to 40 years regardless who we may elect as President in 2020,2024 and beyond.

The Justices appointed by whomever we elect to the Presidency this November will determine what life we, our children and grandchildren will be allowed to live. And there is NO WAY to get rid of them once they are seated. Forget impeachment, in our entire history only one Supreme Court Justice has been impeached. In 1804 the House filed impeachment charges against Justice Samuel Chase. However; at trial the Senate found him not guilty and he remained on the bench until his death in 1811. No one has ever been removed!

That one thought is what dictates my vote this November. The newly elected President will set the course of the Supreme Court for nearly the next half century. What sort of life will your children live under a Clinton or Sanders appointed court? We can live through a bad Presidency, but we will not survive a liberal or socialist Supreme Court for the next 40 years.

The current Court holds 4 solid liberal Democrats. Of the remaining 5 seats one is vacant and up for grabs. Of the remaining four, three are solid conservative Republicans, but... Anthony Kennedy will be 80 in July. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a Bill Clinton appointee is 82 and her seat will be vacant in the near future. The Chief Justice, John Roberts, a GW Bush appointee is at best shakey. We cannot count on him. We are in grave, grave danger.

So ... how will I vote? The decision for me was an easy one and even though I do not like my decision, I am convinced it is sound. Very sound!

I detest Donald Trump ... but I will vote for him if he is the nominee.

Marco Rubio sickens me, in my opinion is he is a political whore and a lazy one at that ... But I will vote for him!

Ted Cruz, I feel is honest and has a good record ... but in my opinion he preaches a bit much for an agnostic such as me, and he somewhat bores me a lot, I find him sometimes annoying... But I will vote for him.

John Kasich, although not a dynamic or charismatic person, I feel is honest, accomplished, knowledgeable and would make a decent President ... I do not think he can win the nomination... But I will vote for him if he does.

Finally. I will not stay home and not vote. Not voting is a vote for a Supreme Court which will work hard to end the United States of America as we know it! I feel this years vote will be the most important vote of my entire life. I am frankly, scared to hell thinking what WILL happen if Hillary or Bernie become President. Not so much afraid of them, but very fearful of the court they will have the power to appoint and will appoint if elected.

Those are my thoughts, I hope you will consider them. I will not try to tell you who to vote for but I beg you to consider the above in making your decision. The President you vote for in November, whether you love or hate him or her, will, with absolute certainty, appoint the Supreme Court which holds the destiny of this country in its hands for the next 3 generations. Perhaps even forever ....

Typical brainwashed, low information voter response....Unable to articulate a response, he just disparages anyone he disagrees with.

Here is what frightens me. In a contested convention (if no one gets 1237 delegates). Neither Trump or Cruz or Kasich wil get the nomination. The establishment will not allow it. The establishment will choose a party hack. perhaps a Ryan or Romney, and garantee a Clinton win. That's what scares the hell out of me.

You are correct in what you say about the republican candidates.
You are not necessarily correct, but certainly entitled to hold the opinion, about the Supreme Court deciding against our values and way of life. You state it as fact, but it is not. There are others with other opinions, obviously. My own opinion: a repub nominated justice would do what you say to my way of thinking. So, no matter what - even if the democrat nominee is Hillary, I will vote for her, for the same reasons you will vote for your nominees.
The only difference in our arguments is that I realize there is another side with a contrary opinion to yours. Other than that, well written.

How refreshing to read two articulate posts - Croce and Moabarch.
No insults, no attacks. Two views.

Dirtpusher would have been well-advised to leave this one alone.
