The past few days have been sunny, but I was stuck here doing work around the house. Now that I have some free time, it's cloudy with rain on and off, with the same forecast through the weekend.
I want to get out and take some pictures, but I need your ideas. What's good shooting on a rainy day?

Hey Jerry. I hope you get some great suggestions. I was thinking of a couple of unique features of rainy days (besides the obvious challenge of keeping everything dry). First, colors are more saturated, great for landscapes but you might want to use a polarizer because of the moisture reflections. Also, you can get those little raindrops without using a spritzer. Reflections in puddles (without the polarizer) can be interesting.
I have seen some fun photos of kids splashing in puddles -- closeups of colorful rain boots just as they stomp the puddle. How about a real challenge: get a gorgeous model in a beautiful chiffon gown drenched in rain looking melancholy, joyful, etc.
Have fun.

Did you have anyone in mind? I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous models - which kinda bothers my wife when we're out shopping.
Day or night?
Night rainy photos with street lights reflecting off the water in the streets.
Day or night light reflecting off the water in the streets that would not be seen if the streets were dry.
Day rainy photos through the window with leaves, bugs or paper stuck on the window because of the moisture.
Someone holding an umbrella.
Someone holding an umbrella that's inside out because of the wind.

Thanks. This would be day because at night, I'm in my chair watching TV with three dogs on my lap. I would have to be my own umbrella man, but I do have a rainsleeve, so I might use that.

LOL Jerry. I get busted for that occasionally myself.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! It bothers mine too and I am quite sure she does not always believe me when I tell her why I notice another woman as a potential model. ;)

Those computer gremlins seem to know what we're thinking.
Idea: A 2" square of duct tape on a cat's behind.
Advise: Very high shutter speed and "fast lens".
Look for a location where the rain is back lit, and just shoot the rain. Looong exposures and short. Front lit rain does not photograph well.
Thanks for the ideas. I've written them down. The rain has stopped, our refrigerator broke, and a bear knocked over our garbage shed and made a mess. No pictures today.

Not even the shed?
Nah. It's not as attractive as you might think - just a big Rubbermaid shed.
Rainy days.....you could fill a day just shooting from a closed car window with out of focus neon/colored lights etc.etc. as back grounds while keeping the rain drops on the glass in focus or not.
