Just came in from the back yard with the 50-500mm Sigma for more practice. They were all shot with a tripod and at maximum 500mm (eq 794mm). I will post the detail in the comments column for your info. Comments are welcome because this improves my knowledge and technique.

Thanks for looking and any comments.

Donna, Thank You. Although I still need to practice  I am getting there. Most of what I shot (80%) were in proper focus. I could go to 100% increase in size and get the detail that I like.

More beautiful bird shots Greg. Do you ever pp your photos? The reason I ask is I try not to use any on mine, I trying to teach myself to go slowly and try and get it right so I don't have to. Because I have other interests and pp can take up a lot of time.Oh course it doesn't always work out that way:) And I end up,having to tweek some.

Thank You, Angela. Practice has helped me a whole lot when you consider I am shooting at 500mm without IS, just a fast shutter and a tripod, the way we used to expose film.

Paula, I do PP but what I have been posting of late is straight from the camera with only a crop to them. I figure since I am still learning all this digital software and camera it would aid me to post without PP to get the input on how to correct something, like overexposure. I now have my ISO set so it floats between 100 and 400 which allows me to pick a shutter speed or f-stop which then lets me control camera shake and/or DOF easily.
