As I get older, those tummy shots get tougher to get. But sometimes it is worth the groan getting back up.

Excellent, David. You'll have to add a D750 (flip screen) to your arsenal for those low shots, lol. :-D :-D

I feel you are correct. Waiting to see how the new D500 looks.

besides getting old, getting muddy, keeping the camera safe, I have to worry about my dogs jumping all over me. Getting those "down to earth" shots calls for strategic planning and timing!!

It was worth the groaning, at least for us :) Good shots!

 The only problem is I don't use live view to focus. I like viewing through the lens via the prism.

I agree as far as preferences go but when I need to go low I only have 2 choices:

1. Use live view
or
2. Take the photo after I fell down

And advance calls to a contractor, to make sure the crane arrives at the right time to get me back up! I have been playing with a camranger, along with the remote tripod head that goes with it. It's all mounted on a Platypod Pro, but is really top-heavy that way. Besides, it is *so* complicated getting all the cables connected properly... The 'pod has holes so that it can be screwed to something, so I am trying to figure out some kind of board arrangement, to spread the weight/balance out, and maybe even have some handles so that I can pick the whole thing up without using the camera as the handle!
