This is the only thorny trunk tree found specifically in our northern jungles.
The photo is taken in National Iranian Plants Institute. May be, this is unique in the whole world, I am not sure. Locally it is called Liliki. The scientific name is Gleditsia caspica.

It is not unique to Iran. We have something similar in my area of the United States. It is called a Locust.

That is a very unique looking tree. Thanks for sharing a little bit of your world. I'm not a plant expert, but do appreciate looking at interesting plants. This is one of them.

We have plenty of thorny trunked trees here in Ohio's rural areas and the wood of the tree is hard as a rock...

I'm with Doddy. It might be fun to see, and it would be interesting to see if any birds gravitate toward this tree ..... it would definitely keep most predators away.

Don't know about birds but fairies live in locust trees where they're protected.

Nice photo. I have a blackthorn locust with some spikes as long as 6+ inches. One went through one of my farm tractor tires once.

If your neighbor puts in a row of these it tells you he doesn't want you coming to visit.
