A couple of photos of the Grand Canyon from a recent trip out west

Excellent compositions and would work slightly better with a boost in the contrast.
Well taken though.

Great Vista darkroom..but B&W doesn't do them justice.
Unlike most of the others, I like this study of the strata in monochrome. There is much there to be liked.
Thanks for the replies. I don't usually work in color unless color is subject. That was not the subject for me here. The light, its variations and shadows were the subject for me. Color in this case would have been verbose. Therefore I didn't shoot any color.
I agree with a slight boost in contrast. I already changed the contrast when I took these by using a deep red filter. There wasn't much contrast in the canyon at the time.
When I actually go to print these I will see what I can actually do with that. These at the moment are rough edits that I liked well enough to share..

Thanks. I agree with you on contrast. My concern is that they will become too gritty if I go too far.
I do not think the strata are apparent.

Somethings are best left in colour. Needs a genius to do this justice in black and white. Where's Ansel when you need him?
Nice composition DR, download would have been much better. I cant feel the draw of these, definitely needs more contrast. After the thousands upon thousands of shots available of these views, its tough to get something that stands out. Good effort. Try to provide download if you would on future postings. Thanks C

First one, not so much. The second, nicely done. Check your levels so that your blacks and whites are at optimum.
the beauty of the Grand canyon are the colors in the layers of crust. B&W does not do it any justice Color
For those wanting color. There is no color version.
For those saying more contrast, please be specific. More contrast in too generic of a term, that offers very little
