Subject decently captured: Bikers relaxing after a ride.

Darks way underexposed. Composition effective.

Framing needs tightening from the top edge down a ways, to remove dead space and give more visual balance.

Skin tones an unnatural red and yellow; adjust for realistic skin tones.

Biker nation provides innumerable photo opportunities. Consider doing photography that flatters and presents this sub-culture to an audience with favor.

I have been tempted in this direction of documenting man and machine. Other subjects have called me.

Thanks for the positives.

Regarding the suggestions for change, I tried them. Couldn't do anything about the skin color. The "adjust color for skin tone" tool didn't change it. Maybe there's too much variation in color as shown. The original was sized for an 8x10 photo. The recropping is OK. The mood was originally meant to be "dark," and I'm not sure that lightening it makes it better.

As far as the "flattering" goes, this seems on the neutral side. There are no torn jeans; they aren't wearing colors. The photo was actually taken on a shopping street in a touristy area of Galveston, Texas. I don't think it's disrespectful.

I thank you for taking the time to make a detailed assessment.

The character of the color (which I'm not saying is either "right" or "wrong" ) is a result of high contrast and high saturation. It is not just the skin tones that show the effect. Note everything that is blue is also the same.

This might be the result of wanting a "dark" mood. If the original image is under exposed it can have that effect when the shadows are pulled up. Very high ISO can do that when the gamma curve is manipulated.

As I recall, I went for high contrast and darker lighting. It was supposed to be a "dark" picture, even though it was taken near midday.

I like the darker version better. I'm looking at the content and not the technicalities of the light and color.

I didn't have a chance to actually test it before (posted from a cell phone), but just now I downloaded the original image, which has less saturation than the second one. I dropped the saturation by a significant amount, and it made the skin tones look fairly normal. It is still high contrast and the overall image is dark, which is what you want.

I did the same with the second image, and it required greater reduction in saturation, plus it didn't look right until the blue alone was desaturated even more. I also like the darker version better, because the second one starts looking more like HDR that is overdone (which some people like but I don't).

Lots of possibilities, depending on just exactly what you want!

That was interesting. It does help with the coloring. I'll have to remember that. Thanks.
