Jim Hill's Woodhenge, Sugar Grove, IL Image Rendered by Tom

Jim,

I decided I'd take a little time separating the whites and the blacks in your image to see what difference I could make. With the separation, it does tend to sharpen the image a little. I think pulling apart the blacks and whites, using layers in Photoshop, gave it a little more character and definition. It also darkened the concrete just a tad and I feel the trees seem to fit better in the photo.

Thank you for giving me permission to post my rendition of your image as a new topic. I think you captured those posts quite nicely, and your vision to do so is commended.

I'll just wait and see what you and others think about my tweaks, if I get any response at all from others. Thanks again, Jim.

Best Regards,
Tom

I think the slight changes I made can best be seen in the download, if the image is displayed properly after uploading it to UHH.

CM,

Thanks - that is what I thought as well. Glad to hear that - at least one person sees what I do, so maybe I'm not all wet behind the ears after all - Hah! It wasn't much adjustment, but just enough I thought. It is so easy to overdo PP'ing. :-)

Let's wait and see what Jim has to say. That will be the proof in the pudding, so to speak.

Best Regards,
Tom

Although I am not a fan of the term "pop" I understand what you mean. I have posted a side by side in another section as Critique only allows one photograph per thread - unless the rules have changed since I first tried it over a year ago.

How about sharper, clearer. Stand out more. :-D
"Pop" just seems to describe what I mean. It grabs your attention. And it wasn't that big a change, but I thought it made a difference. I actually think he could have pushed it even more.

Thanks for the clarification, CM. It's great to have different perspectives on our work.

This image has intrigued me for some while. I realize it's not a significant event but there was something about it. I think I was trying to figure out if it was somebody's work or "art" or some kids just playing aroumd, or whatever. Prompts me to want to send off an email to the folks at the observatory to see what they have to say about it.
