The subject was brought up here 3 weeks ago:

I was unaware this subject was discussed 3 weeks ago.
Thousand dollars for a point and shoot, it had better be a really good camera for that kind of cash. I don't know if I'd be willing to lay out that much for a camera I couldn't change lenses on.

Not a review, but a comparison of two of them.

Not trying to be rude but this not new information. The announcement came a few weeks ago and has been mentioned on many photography sites, including this one. There are no reviews out at the present time. Only articles discussing features and functions. Cameras are being released in June.

This is not really a review. It is merely an article by someone who has handled a preproduction model and mentions all of the features and functions. There is no discussion on the quality of the pictures and their actual use of the camera in action.

Both the Pana FZ1000 & Sony RX10ii are both outstanding cameras.. image wise is insignificant between the these cameras, only differences you will find is in some of the features of these cameras. You get 4k vid on the pana and a very long lens, You get excellent vid on the Sony and better sound from the sony due to the external mic port, pana doesn't have one.... and a short overall lens.... If you only take still then either camera is an excellent choice, for vid if you want better external sound capabilies then the sony is the one... Check out Kirk Tuck's blog
visualsciencelab.blogspot.com
and you don't need to change lenses...... or the weight carrying em......

Regardless of who already knew of them or not, the news will be new to some. Therefore it is important to note none are "fixed lens" cameras..
Thanks for link. I liked the last part. Common. Weaknesses. Very Expensive.

Thanks for the post!
Please ignore those who point out there may have been another post on the same subject. There also have been many useless posts making such a claim. People not interested shouldn't waste their time and others by opening the thread if it does not interest them.

I mentioned it for the benefit of those who may have missed it, so they'd be up to date on what has been said. Your comment is the one to ignore!!
