If this is the best that our political system can deliver, then it is time for a page one re-write.

I am sure that you and I disagree profoundly on the nature of the change we need, nonetheless, what we have now is not working.

Here's what I believe: every individual has a duty to be responsible for themselves. This means each individual should seek to support him/her self within the rules of society (i.e. laws). Each individual needs to care for themselves, their loved ones, children, spouses, and parents when needed. Each individual has a duty to assist other members of society when needed, but not to care for them indefinitely, unless mental or physical health issues are in play. We the society, have entrusted our government to enforce the "rule of society" for the good order of society. But we should not seek the government to be our nanny. The fix will not be easy nor kind to all. There will be negative impacts on many individuals, possibly me and you. But, we cannot continue on in the current practice of government. This election will be a significant event in how we, as a nation, will, or will not, continue to be the greatest nation in the history of mankind.

I found this an interesting article, and--for me--that's saying something.

Author was informed and logical about Trump, and I generally agreed with his conclusions.

He was not logical and informed about Hillary; he didn't examine her as he did Trump.

We know he would't accept Hillary--that's no surprise--but he failed to follow the logic and evaluation he leveled at Trump.

He missed a good opportunity for dispassionate journalism there.

The Republicans presented (if I remember correctly) 17 candidates. The field is now winnowed down to three--two of which are absolutely impossible!

Kasich is the only candidate one could take seriously, and he's barely hanging in there, though his numbers are improving. His program will not be acceptable to many democrats.

The Dems are about to nominate Hillary, who is not acceptable to many republicans, though some leaders allow they may vote for Hillary in protest against Trump.

We'll see.

I can't see any new candidates on the scene. There is the possibility of republicans inserting a new candidate into a brokered convention, but that could (would?) cause chaos and wild disagreement. Trump supporters would probably sit out the election, giving the victory to Hillary.

Cruz is more dangerous than Trump (which is saying something) and doesn't stand of chance of being President, in my opinion.

So, it appears we are down to Trump vs. Clinton in November.

Each voter will mark a ballot and watch.

One candidate will march to oblivion, and the other to inauguration.

Watching your candidate lose will be a wrenching experience for either party, but it is necessary to witness the loss, pick up the pieces and move on.

Either way, the Republican Party will reform into something new and different, and some will sit out some elections until they are reconciled to the new party.

Republicans will be forced to solicit black votes, Hispanic votes and women's votes, competing with democrats.

Seeking the same votes will reduce confrontation and division, and probably will result in stability and a certain amount of calm.

What a new experience That might be!

Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Agreed on a great article. The Shillary would simply be disastrous for our once great country after the obama regime, and her plethora of lies, (the Bosnian sniper fire was indeed a whopper), and her many ethical issues makes her unpalatable to many.

That being said however, Trump, the ever egotistical, obnoxious blow hard would be head and shoulders above her for three simple reasons; illegal immigration, the military and the economy.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but if it does come down to Trump vs Shillary, the choice is quite clear. That point is moot though, because the pubby establishment RINO's are going to stop him with a contested convention, and they will advocate another one of "theirs" who will be no better than her.

Very well put. I agree Trump is a blowhard, but he has the knack of motivating people and understanding big business, which may stand to get the U.S. out of the mess Obama AND prior presidents have created. I hope he proves to be that "exterminator who gets the raccoons out of the basement."

But the Trump supporters will sit the election out, giving it to Hillary.

Trump has absolutely no qualifications, and will never, never be president.

You had 17 candidates to choose from--not a winner in the bunch!

There are over a hundred votes in the electoral college that are neither red or blue; to win, republicans have to win 79 of them. Fat Chance.

Can you say "Madam President?"

I disagree with what Neil says, but let that stand.

I do not predict, but I expect Trump's big mouth will cause major problems for him in the next seven months. He can't control what he says and always moves on to be more provocative, and I think he will lose control, such as the white supremacy thing, or the violence thing.

Either way, we are about to be entertained until next November, perhaps even longer.
