Just joined as an absolute beginner !!!
Already have used some of the sound advice which was much appreciated. I do have a wee problem which I will post later and hopefully receive some good advice.
Hi Ron, and welcome to the UHH. Post your questions and you'll get the answers. When you get a chance, post some of your pics.
Welcome to the Hog!

Welcome to the forum. For an 'absolute beginner', I'd say you're doing extremely well! Since you asked for gentle comments:
#1 - the red seems over saturated.. Looking at the original, it seems more an issue of light. The sunlight is reflecting off the flower petals. Did you post-process these at all? If so, backing off the red saturation might help some.
#2 Very well composed shot - I like this the best of the three. Could be lightened up just a tad. Maybe a darker background to contrast with the white flower?
#3 - Great shot - might crop out a bit of the water in the foreground, maybe a tiny bit on the sky. I like the boat being on the left side of the frame.

Welcome to the "HOG". Bring it on.
Welcome to the UHH
Welcome Ron!!! pretty good shots for a beginner!!!
Thanks to all, I have now gained a lot more confidence which means I can attempt to widen my horizons.
There is so much scenery here in Scotland, I want to try a depict it at it's best.
Well you heard the song "Englishmen in New York, well I am "Englishman in Scotland!!!!"
Welcome. You are off to a good start as a beginner. The only comment I would have is with photo 3 - I don't know what the orange thing is on the right side of the photo, but it is a bit distracting to my eye. A crop would take care of that, and then possibly using the cloning or erase tool on your photo processing program to get rid of the orange float in the middle of the picture. Keep shooting and experimenting and keep posting for us to see your progress.
