I only have an older version of Photoshop Elements, plus a RAW converter I downloaded from Sony for my A6000. Is there a way to do basic processing (primarily resizing of the large files) with what I have or do I need another PP program? Is there anything free since my main goal is just batch resizing?
thanks,
ron

Microsoft resize does an excellent job and is free.
That's what I needed. Now, is that a download from MS or is it in some program already on my laptop (Win7)?
thanks,

Check out FastStone Image Viewer - resize using a variety of options, rename, change color space, view any raw image, perform simple edits, tag, rotate, etc, etc, etc, etc - and it's completely free.

Try File>Process Multiple Files for re-sizing. But, the batch has to be all Horizontal or all Vertical.

I use free Irfanview for a lot of things, including batch resizing and renaming. It's very flexible. If you get it, get the plug-ins, too.

Hi,
My Windows 7 machine came with a program called "Paint." It has the ability to resize and/or crop. I do not know if it will do a "batch resize" or not. Take care & ...

http://www.irfanview.com/I'll second that... Been using Irfanview as my default picture viewer for many years, and basic resize/crop stuff probably as long as I have had pictures on my PC...
Thanks Gene51, Jimbo70, jerryc41, Al Beatty, and Bloke. I took Rongnongo's advice before seeing all yours. It worked great. However, I'm going to explore you guy's suggestions and see what other options might be available with those programs. This has really helped me - last night I used just the MS resizer and it has opened up a ton of HD space for me.

What version of PSE are you using?
I batch re - size frequently with PSE 11. It's easy. file>process multiple files, then select which features you want to use in the batch process.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

You may want to try Photo Gallery. It's part of Windows Essentials. (Choose wisely which of the Windows Essentials you actually want to download). The Photo Gallery allows for some quite nifty PP as well, though not on RAW. I'm not quite sure of any batch features - I agree that Irfanview is by far the best for that. P
Downloaded Irfanview and Faststone Image Viewer. Now to do some comparisons...
thanks again,

Irfanview, along with the plugins, is a fantastic program. It's quite good for resizing.
