Got this great lens about a week ago. Took a couple pix of a frog in the backyard. It's a little heavy, but did pretty good handheld.

Mind your DoF! The nose is soft in image #1, due to f/8 at ISO 100. Increasing ISO to 400 would allow f/16, with a deeper DoF.

Got the eyes! You can't get it all. But handheld at 600mm at 1/40th second?? I am really impressed. Great work.

Thanks! I think I might have to use a tripod at f16, but will try it maybe next weekend.

Your D7200 will easily handle a higher ISO, such as 800, making f/16 captures possible with a shorter shutter duration.
You will still be focusing wide-open, so a tripod is not usually necessary for a fairly stationary subject, such as a frog.
