I recently purchased a Sony sound bar for my SHARP tv. Suddenly the sound just stopped working. Now it's on again? Anyone have a similar experience with a sound bar? Would appreciate any ideas. I also changed the optical cord. to a six footer. Thanks

Hi Phildee:

I have a soundbar on my Samsung TV. Sometimes when the sound stops, I find that the button that controls the input get pressed accidentally. i have to go through all the input options to find the proper input and get the sound back.
Hope this helps. Good Luck

Yes! Had the same thing happen, multiple times. Had to turn it off/on to restore sound. Finally returned the sound bar. I prefer the surround sound from my original SR system over the sound bar.

I have a Bose sound bar that quit working while watching TV, looked it up on the internet and was told to unplug it from the receptacle and plug it back in and sure enough it's working again. I have had the Bose 2 years now and have only had to do that twice.
The reason I have a sound bar is that the back ground music is too loud to be able to hear what the people in the show are saying and the sound bar does help make speech come through more clear.

I have had a sony sound bar on my vizio for about three years now , only problem I'm old and the remote is small so it is usually an operator problem.

Go to the sound at remote and make sure the "tv" button is pressed.....it's probably one of about 20 buttons, but it's the one that commands it to play whatever is on the tv thru the bar.

I have a Samsung TV and a Samsung Sound Bar. They work quite well together, via HDMI. The bar comes on automatically with the TV. There is about a 15-second delay before the sound starts, but that is a minor annoyance. The improvement in sound quality is worth it.

The really cool thing is that, when not watching TV, I can pair the Sound Bar with my iPhone and play Internet radio or iTunes music through it, via BlueTooth. It works up to about 25 feet away.

I've never connected it via optical cable.

My soundbar quit the other evening also. Then my wife woke me up and I could hear it again. Works great!
