Spotted these ladies shooting in the Antique Village the other day. What I like about it is that the young girl is standing holding the camera while her mom is laying on the ground to get the shot with her cell phone.

Great to see a photographer shooting street shooters...but question is... what were the street shooters that you shot shooting while you were shooting them shooting?
(why is "Sally sells sea shells down by the seashore" running through my mind....????)

Lol, probably the same reason that it's now running through my head too!
Seriously though, they were shooting a coat of arms on display in front of one of the shops.
Good to see mom "working the scene".

She sells sea shells on the sea shore..... thanks for that Dave thats my quiet moments of contemplation shot to bits for the next couple of hours.
The one on the ground really makes this shot interesting. Whereas the one standing seems focussed on a 'thing' or event down the lane, by herself, she would not have had much impact. But the one on the ground gives the pic something that we as photographers all recognise..... 'the never ending quest for the perfect angle.' The vertical pillar is a little unfortunate in its placement but it was there so what can you do?
Reading your next post I am disappointed that it was a mundane coat of arms that was attracting their attention. I had suspected a film star or a robbery to attract that sort of commitment to getting a great pic.

Love pictures like this that leave me asking why? Not why you took it but why the this lady feels the need to prostrate herself upon a dirty sidewalk whilst wearing a white shirt to take a picture with a phone.
Mrs Billy is not overly interested in my hobby but occasionally I show her a picture. She looked and said "Americans"?. When I confirmed that they probably were she just shook her head and walked away!
Do not take that the wrong way she finds much strange about us white folks.
Nice post Erik

I think it is a great moment. They are so wrapped up in what they are doing, that they are oblivious to you and what is around them. There is also tension in the way the Mom is on the ground working the shot. Nice image.

No umbrage taken at the mention of "American tourists". My first thought, having seen several similar scenes on Prince's Street in Edinburgh was they were some of my countrymen who had never even thought they had a crest or a "coat of arms" who had found their family name on an " achievement of arms" plaque of some sort in some tartan shop window. Rather than have the grace to go in and inspect the wares and consider a purchase, they figure a quick snap will do to establish their heraldric bono fides back home...and with luck they'll find a paperback abridged Debrette'sPeerage in a used bookstore!

I know exactly what they were trying to shoot. Inspector Clouseau, interrogating the street musician and his minky. (if you don't know what that is on you tube look up "Insrector Clouseau and the Minky" trust me, you will never laugh as hard again.

I agree. If it had just been the young lady standing there, I probably wouldn't have taken the shot. But her mom laying on the ground esp. with the cell phone, really made the moment for me. True that the post is unfortunate, but you take what you can get in the moment sometimes. I could 'shop it out, but probably not effectively. I'm getting away from cloning out large objects in my shots, if it's there and I can't shoot my way around it, then so be it.

Thanks Billy, Tell Mrs. Billy that I often shake my head at my fellow silly Americans too.

Great fun in this one, Erik. We can (mostly) identify, I think :)
