I was at an exotic car rally a couple of months ago and captured this young lady avidly photographing the cars with her phone. Luckily I had a 28-300mm on the camera and was able to zoom in and capture a few shots of her in action. Was not sure whether to put them in "street" or "people" but guessed "people" was the right choice.

I would have liked to blur the background more in 1 & 2 but my lens is only an F5.6 and she was quite a distance away (these are only about 30% of the frame) and shot at 300mm. No. 3 was from less distance so the bokeh is better.

This is what scares people about large lenses.

Those are very nice shots and she is very attractive. But it appears she did not know that she was being photographed, otherwise there would not have been the innocent candid results.

As I said very good shots.

I'm not trying to criticize what you did but from you post it appears you did not know her and she did not know she was being photographed. The privacy aspect of this is the question. I agree probably not the right place for this discussion. But she is clearly the subject of the photographs, she is not incidental, and now it has been published it on UHH. So I only hope you did approach her after taking the shots to get her permission.

You know, there is an auto show this weekend here, in Kansas City. Maybe I could set up a both with my soft boxes and stuff and offer free portraits to the female models to add to their portfolios. I wonder if any of them will be naked?

From what I understand, when photographing people in public places where there is no expectation of privacy, one does not require permission or a model release unless the resulting photos are used for commercial gain (mine are certainly not). I see many candid street photos of people here on UHH where the subjects are unaware of being photographed. I''d be interested hear other opinions on this as it is not my intention to post anything that is not legal or ethical.

You might get quite a few takers on your offer! Don't know about KC, but if you were on South Beach, they may not be naked, but darned close! With your photography skills, I'll bet they would like the results and, you would get their email addresses so you could send the photos :)

That might be interesting.

Again, they were very nice shots.

Thank you, glad you liked the shots. Also, I appreciate your bringing up the subject re permissions, it will be interesting to hear others take on the issue. Recently, I attended a workshop put on by a pro who did travel photography (some for Nat. Geo.) and this subject was discussed. He said that he rarely asked for releases , but in many cases asked for permission, not because he had to, but to get people to allow him to shoot many shots from different angles and basically get "in their face" with the camera. Probably a good idea to ask, as you could offend someone and cause a scene!

I don't know about my skills. I would probably have to cheat.

There is no assumption of privacy when you are in public!

You don't need permission.

What the OP did is called street photography.

Just google street photography and you will find thousands of shots of folks just living their lives in public.

Your comments are an example of your ignorance. Try reading before making comments.

Your reply would have been just as effective without the last two sentences.

I would suggest your response is fine up to the last sentence but apparently you can't suppress your 2 yr old mentality because you resort to name calling like an immature kid or like a TROLL. Just go away and let the people who have the maturity to compose civil responses continue the thread. Unless you really are a TROLL then by all means keep posting immature childish responses.

JD, your technique of handling an ass, by out-assing them is wonderful! So much more creative and successful than mine, sarcasm.

Have a good day, and do keep it up!
